Abstract
Traditional energy harvesters are often of low energy conversion efficiency due to limited utilization ratio of piezoelectric materials. To overcome this difficulty,we presents an energy-harvesting system based on the micro beam with equal strength. The system is composed of an cantilever micro beam with equal strength and a tip mass, two piezoelectric layers are bounded to the upper and lower surface of the micro beam. Otherwise,we investigate the mechanical and electromechanical coupling characteristics of the energy harvesting, and the comparison between energy harvesting with equal strength beam and energy harvesting with uniform beam is presented for selected cases. The results demonstrate that the energy harvesting with equal strength beam has the advantages of low natural frequency, reasonable surface stress distribution, high utilization ratio of piezoelectric materials and high energy output density, the performance is obviously better than that of energy harvesting with uniform beam.
