Abstract
In order to study the performance degradation of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) column under salt spray corrosion, 16 specimens of concrete-filled steel tubular stub column were tested under axial compression after salt spray corrosion. The influences of steel grade and weight-loss rate were both considered in the design of tests. The performance degradation of various grades of steel and the axial performance of concrete-filled circular steel tubular stub column under salt spray corrosion were analyzed. The results show that salt spray corrosion would not only weaken the profile of steel tube, but also change the mechanical performance of steel. With the increase of weight-loss rate, the failure modes of specimens will change from shear type to drum failure, and the axial capacity and stiffness of specimens are both decreased, while the ultimate displacement of specimens is hardly changed. The lateral deformation factor and ductility of specimens are also decreased with the increase of weight-loss rate. Due to the corrosion weakening of tube section, the confinement factor would decrease with the increase of weight-loss rate, yet the axial strength ratio between test value and nominal value shows an opposite change.
