Abstract
For the brushless synchronous machine excited with zero-sequence spatial harmonic field, establishment of the field current is closely related to the armature zero-sequence current and the distribution of rotor harmonic winding. And the field current can be also interfered by existing high armature harmonics and tooth harmonics. In order to improve the stability and regulating performance of the field current, influence of armature high harmonic and tooth harmonic magnetic fields on the harmonic winding EMFs were described in detail, and the influencing factors of the field current were also analyzed. Analyzing results on two specific machines with different topologies show that high harmonic and tooth harmonic EMFs on the harmonic winding of the fractional-slot machine are weakened obviously, and the generated field current has good regulation characteristic. Results of experiments and 2-D FEA verified the correctness of the theoretical analyses. The theoretical analyses, together with the experimental results, provide theoretical and experimental basis for further study of the machine.
