Abstract
The atomization model has a major effect on the simulation accuracy of spray combustion.To solve this problem,a fully-resolved direct numerical simulation framework instead of an atomization model is developed in this paper to directly simulate the atomization,evaporation and combustion processes.The reliability of simulations is validated by two numerical examples,i.e.,the Stefan problem and droplet combustion.Results show that the numerical results are in agreement with the theoretical and experimental results.The proposed method provides a numerical foundation for the high-resolution fully-resolved direct numerical simulation of turbulent spray combustion in the future.
