Abstract

The accelerating agent M of substituted urea was synthesized by the addition reaction between POSS and m-Tolyl isocyanate (MTI).The stable modified cyanate ester resin (mCEPK) used in extreme space environment was prepared by adding the accelerating agent M into the melt prepolymer of CE/EP/PKHH resin modified by means of the fusion method. The results show that the curing temperature of CE resin is obviously decreased with the addition of accelerating agent M, the cured degree of mCEPK resin is more than 90% by the procedure of 125 ℃/4 h, and its storage life is more than 15 days at 24 ℃.The mCEPK resin is of desirable processing property, which can be remained viscosity constant during the steady state for 40 min at 100 ℃.PKHH can improve the ductility of CE resin by means of the toughening mechanism of semi-interpenetrating network (SIPN).Especially, the impact strength value of the CE/EP blends with the content of 10% (mass fraction) PKHH resin is 18.8 kJ/m2 and the modulus is about 3.8 GPa at -196 ℃, and the cracks are not observed on the surface of specimens after 15 hot-low temperature cycles (-196~200 ℃) accordingly.
