Abstract

Due to the wide military and civilian fields application, ultraviolet (UV) detectors have attracted much attention. Compared with the complex molecular structure, poor stability and other disadvantages of organic materials, inorganic materials are widely used in the field of ultraviolet detection due to their good stability and controllable growth. The development of UV detectors and their types were briefly introduced. The preparation methods and application status of typical materials for UV detection, including metal oxides, diamonds, group III-nitride were emphatically summarized. Finally, some problems existed in inorganic materials for UV detection such as material growth and device performance were proposed, and their future development was prospected.
