Abstract

Under earthquake excitations, anti-seismic hanger should be able to ensure that the mechanical and electrical equipment of architecture and piping system can maintain good service performance. Therefore, experimental investigation on the performance of anti-seismic hanger is important for the seismic analysis of piping system. In this paper, shaking table tests of one-way seismic simulation along the pipe direction were carried out to comparatively analyze the displacement and acceleration response of different types of hangers under multi-conditions. Experimental results show that the anti-seismic hanger can significantly reduce the displacement of piping system and the vibration reduction ratio can reach up to 96%, but the reduction effect corresponding acceleration is very small. Fragility analysis shows that the piping system with the finished hanger will be severely damaged when subjected to an earthquake equivalent to the fortified earthquake intensity; however the piping system with the proposed anti-seismic hanger works well.
