Abstract

Natural zeolites have a variety of crystal structures and a large surface area,their surface has permanent electronegativity,good thermal stability and adsorption properties.Modified zeolites possess developed pore structure and unique ion exchange property,showing an outstanding adsorption capacity.This paper reviews the progress and prospect of the application of modified zeolites in water treatment,including the enhanced coagulation,enhanced precipitation and enhanced filtration processes for drinking water treatment,the deep treatment process in sewage treatment,and the recovery of organic matters and ammoniacal nitrogen in sludge treatment process.Modified zeolites,with stable structure,low cost and wide application,have become a hot topic in the field of water treatment in recent years.
