Abstract
A systematic design method for the transformation of the lower shear wall with paralleled steel tube columns and outsourcing steel plate-confined concrete to the upper shear walls with steel tube-confined concrete (STCC) is proposed. The design of the upper STCC shear wall is based on the principle of stiffness equivalent. On the other hand, the exhaustive method is used to optimize the section of the upper shear walls with steel tube-confined concrete, and a better economic benefit is obtained. Then, through a super high-rise building example, this method is adopted to design the transition section and ABAQUS is used to establish the optimized finite element model for the verification of the bearing capacity. The result meets the bearing capacity requirements, and the cost is reduced by 27% after optimization. The conversion section design method proposed in this paper can provide a reference for general outsourcing shear walls to shear walls with steel tube-confined concrete.
