Abstract
The martensite transformation, microstructure as well as the mechanical properties and shape memory effect of the Ti-V-Al high temperature shape memory alloy doping minor Sc were characterized by means of optical microscope, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimeter and tensile testing. The results show that the Ti-V-Al alloys contained minor Sc can be indexed as α" martensite with a orthorhombic structure at room temperature; minor Sc addition can result in the refined grain size; the transformation temperature increases continuously with the increase of Sc content; the elongation of Ti-V-Al alloy is improved owing to the refined grain size, besides, the shape memory effect strain is enhanced by 0.5% as a result of Sc addition.
