Abstract
The ignition and combustion characteristics of a pulverized coal(PC)reactor system were studied via optical diagnosis. The OH* spontaneous emission signal, total light intensity signal and the OH-PLIF fluorescence signal of the powder jet flame were captured by ICMOS. The advantages and disadvantages of different measurement techniques were ana-lyzed,respectively. The ignition delay time of the latter two was simultaneously calculated, thereby analyzing the reliability of the PLIF measurement method. Based on the combination of the OH-PLIF diagnostic fluorescence image and ignition delay time, the ignition and combustion characteristics of the volatile jet flame were elaborated. The results show that the PC cloud ignition is a process in which volatiles are burned first and then char particles are heated up.
