Abstract

In order to correctly measure mechanical performance of metal materials under actual work environment, a scheme for metal plate axial in-service loading based on the electromagnetic induction principle was proposed. An electromagnetic loading device for metal plate structures and a pulse exciting power supply based on the capacitive charge and discharge principle were designed. The loading effect of the device on aluminum plates was analyzed with finite element simulation to obtain uniform uniaxial stress. The electromagnetic loading test platform was built to measure the generated electromagnetic force with the ultrasonic stress detection method. The test results agree well with those of simulation to verify the feasibility of the scheme, and realize fast and in-situ loading of uniaxial stress for metal plates.
