Abstract

The problem of measurement dead-zone (MDZ) exists in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system that operates at overmodulation region under traditional single current sensor (SCS) techniques. This paper improved the conventional measurement-vector insertion method (MVIM) based on a hybrid space vector pulse width modulation (HSVPWM) strategy, realizing the phase current reconstruction at overmodulation region and expanding the motor's operating range. Compared with traditional techniques, the measurement vectors were arranged at the beginning and middle moment in every switching period in the proposed strategy, which could keep the symmetry of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) waveforms and avoid the current distortion. The implementation procedures were greatly simplified, which made it conducive to improving the overall control performance of the system. Both the simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.
