Abstract
The standardized ground motion record sets have wide applicability due to the properties that they only consider the scenario earthquake information and have no relevance with structural vibration periods. However, the scenario earthquake information is only from deterministic scenario earthquakes, and the standardized ground motion record sets have not been matched by the target spectra, therefore, there will be large variabilities in seismic responses of structures under the standardized ground motions. In this paper, the newest ground motion prediction equation(GMPE), which is suitable to the seismic areas in China, is adopted to construct the scenario spectra for the four seismic areas in China. Then, by the selection and scaling algorithm through matching both the mean and standard deviation values of scenario spectra, the standardized ground motion record sets are given for the four seismic areas in China. The results can provide the recommendations for ground motion selection and scaling factor values.
