Abstract
With the development of modern missile technology, the requirements for motor performance and loading fraction becomes higher and higher. Conventional grain structures can no longer meet the overall demands. Therefore, experimental studies on a core mold based on the shape memory polymer solid motor grain was carried out. Based on the shape memory effect, the shape memory core mold was cured into a shape that was easy to demould, and then processed into a shape that needed to be solidified. After the appropriate demoulding agent was coated, it was used as the propellant core mold. After the propellant was cured, the core mold was thermally stimulated, and the core mold would return to the memoried shape, so as to demould itself. The simulative and genuine drugs were tested with shape memory polymer core molds of with a deformation ratio of 50% and 100%, respectively. The core mold was successfully demolded, and the internal profile of the grain was good. The Φ118 motor ignition test was carried out successfully. The results show that the use of shape memory polymer mandrels can realize the complex shape design of the unconventionality, broaden the grain form, increase the loading fraction, and provide a new preparation process for the shape design.
