Abstract

The uniform quick superplastic forming technology combined with hot stamping, superplastic inflation and forward and backward bulging was used to produce the front skin of aluminum alloy for urban vehicles. Before forming, the optimum forming conditions of 5083-H111 aluminum alloy were obtained by orthogonal experiment. The forming die was designed according to part features, and superplastic forming process parameters of the first front skin part of urban vehicle in China formed with 5083-H111 aluminum alloy sheet with thickness of 4 mm were determined by numerical simulation, the pressure-time control curves of backward and forward bulging were output. Finally, the outer panel part with better die sticking, shape accuracy error within 2 mm, the maximum thinning rate of 22% and whole uniform thickness is obtained, which solves the forming difficulties of deep cavity (h≈800 mm) in the opening mould direction and small local inner fillet (R≈6 mm), meets the technical requirements and can be used in batch production.
