Abstract
A novel dual consequent-pole transverse-flux linear motor has been proposed in this paper. This motor incorporated two individual consequent-pole transverse-flux motor topologies, which have common flux path interlinking the winding. The proposed structure can achieve high utilization of material and improve the thrust density by fully taking advantage of the inner space of the motor. The reluctance network was established after analyzing the magnetic field distribution, and the flux-linkage was calculated along with the thrust expression. 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) method was employed to find the waveform of flux-linkage, back electromotive force (EMF) and thrust force to validate the theory. Furthermore, a prototype motor was manufactured and measured.
