Abstract

An equivalent method for the interaction zone between drilling tools and lunar soil is proposed according to the movement law of lunar soil particles during drilling process, then a new analytical model of drilling pressure is established from macroscopic point of view. The prediction ability of the model for low compactness lunar soil drilling pressure is verified by the ground test with 70% compactness lunar soil. The relationship between the corresponding correction coefficients and the drilling ratio is obtained and the scalability of the model is analyzed. This modeling method provides a new perspective and idea for modeling of drilling tools-soil interaction under complex working conditions, and also provides theoretical support for the research of drilling and sampling techniques on the Moon or other celestial bodies.
