Abstract
The nano calcium carbonate sorbent wrapped with the mesoporous SiO2 skeleton for CO2 capture performance was prepared by sol-gel method and the sorbent performance in cyclic calcination/carbonation was studied by TGA.The uptake of CO2 in the first and the 15th cycle of composite sorbent was 13.4,mol/kg and 6.1,mol/kg,increased by 32%, and 41%,respectively,compared with untreated nano calcium carbonate. The average pore size of porous skeleton decreased with the addition of TMB and the capacity of the sorbent then decreased.A number of nano CaCO3 are coated in the SiO2 framework, where mesopores allow the transfer of reactant gas into fresh sorbent particles. The skeleton also inhibits the agglomeration of the nano CaCO3 because of sintering and improves the activity of the sorbent.
