Abstract

In order to solve the problems of high wear rate, high cold flow property and high melt viscosity of PTFE for friction pendulum isolation bearing, tungsten disulfide (WS2) with different content was added to PTFE material.Based on experimental study on the basic physical and mechanical properties of PTFE filled with WS2, the friction and wear properties of friction pendulum bearings were studied, the relationship between horizontal loading speed, compressive stress and friction coefficient were analyzed. Then, the recommended value of WS2 content in PTFE was given comprehensively.Meanwhile, the finite element analysis and experimental verification of the friction pair bearings were carried out by using ABAQUS software. The results show that adding 2% and 4% WS2 to modify PTFE can significantly improve the wear resistance of PTFE on the premise of ensuring the basic physical and mechanical properties, and the friction coefficient is similar to that of pure PTFE, which is a better method to improve the performance of friction pendulum bearings for bridges.
